Evaporated milk is so easy to make and all the ingredients requires is MILK. Unlike condensed milk, there is NO sugar added to this recipe.
4 cups of milk (this will make about 2 cups of evaporated milk)
Small pot – preferably a nonstick kind
Pour the milk into the pot and place on the stove. Turn the stove to “low.”
Keep the milk hot, but not boiling, until the milk has evaporated to half its size (this process can take a while all depending on your stove, for me it was about 2 hours).
Stir the milk every 10 minutes or so so that it does not scourge at the bottom of the pot.
Once it’s reduced and ready, pour the milk through a sieve to catch any bits of skin.
Leave the milk to cool to room temperature before using in a recipe.
Store the milk in the refrigerator for up to one week.
