Self-saucing Chocolate Pudding


This has to be the easiest and a really awesome hot pudding. It was made by Matt Preston in a masterclass. Being addicted to chocolate makes me a sucker for any chocolate recipe. This pudding served with cream or icecream is amazing.


2 Cups flour

1 Cup sugar

1/2 Cup cocoa powder

120g Melted butter

2 Eggs

250ml Milk

5ml Vanilla essence


110g Sugar

3Tb Cocoa powder

2 Cups boiling water


Oven 220°.

Mix dry ingredients and make a well in the middle. Blend the milk, melted butter and 2 eggs. Add the vanilla essence.

Don’t overmix. Pour mixture into a medium sized dish.

On top, sprinkle the sugar, then the cocoa powder and gently pour the 2 cups boiled water.

Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. The top must be crusted and the pudding must still wobble. Over cooked makes it a sponge cake.

When done, remove and serve hot with icecream or cream.
